Favicon.
The small icon shown in the browser tab, in bookmarks and beside the site in some search results.
Why it matters.
A missing favicon is a small thing that reads as carelessness on a tab full of competitors, and Google does show it next to mobile results. It costs ten minutes and one square image. The common mistake is supplying only a tiny version — modern browsers and app launchers want something at least 180 pixels square.
How to check it yourself.
Open your site in a browser tab next to three competitors. If yours is the blank page icon, you have found a ten-minute job.
