84 websites of London businesses, each requested and read by our own checker in September 2026. 5 still show a copyright year from 2021 or earlier. The full picture is below.
Where London differs most from Toronto: 17% of working London sites are still served without HTTPS, against 3% across the GTA — every one of them shows "Not secure" in Chrome. The oldest copyright line we found in London reads 2015.
London, trade by trade.
Trades where we opened at least eight working sites in London. "Dated" means the site loads but shows a hard sign of age: no HTTPS, no mobile layout, markup from the 2000s, an abandoned platform, or a copyright line five or more years old.
| Trade | Sites opened | Working | Dated | Without HTTPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dental practices | 15 | 14 | 36% | 1 |
What London sites are built on.
WordPress runs 54% of the working sites here (43% in the GTA). A site on any maintained platform can be kept current. The ones that cannot are on tools nobody has updated in a decade.
| Platform | Sites | Share of working sites |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | 35 | 54% |
| Wix | 4 | 6% |
| Drupal | 3 | 5% |
| Shopify | 3 | 5% |
| GoDaddy Builder | 2 | 3% |
| Webflow | 2 | 3% |
| Squarespace | 1 | 2% |
What these numbers do not say.
They do not say how many London businesses have no website. Our source for businesses outside the GTA is OpenStreetMap, and a business without a website tag there may still have one, so we do not publish that figure. Nor do they include Google review counts, which we only have for the GTA.
What they do say is reliable: every figure in the table is a website we requested ourselves, and sites behind bot protection are left out rather than guessed at.
